Welcome to Daily Farm
Welcome! We are so glad and grateful you are here.
We’d like to introduce ourselves to you and to our farm. We are the proud new owners and operators of farmland in the wetlands of New Albany, Indiana. Our farm was purchased in July, 2021, and our official farming LLC, Daily Farm, was formed in January, 2022.
Because Daily Farm is located in the Southern Indiana wetlands, our farm is teeming with life and historic culture. It is home to all sorts of wildlife, and rests on Native lands; a history which cannot be ignored, as we cherish that Native American artifacts have been found all over our land by prior university-led excavations. The land is nestled in the lowlands between the DNR-protected Minton Nature Preserve and the Ohio River.
As we start our farm, we bring with us our small-scale farming experience with the goal to apply this knowledge to a larger scale. Kristen was the operator of a successful flower growing and florist business, Efflorescent Flowers, in which she grew cut flowers for weddings and direct-to-customer year round. She is an active member in ASCFG (Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers) and a previous WWOOF volunteer on a flower farm in the Pacific Northwest. We married in October of 2020, though we have known and dated each other since 2011. Our previous home, located in downtown Clarksville, was our growing plot. Fondly called The Little House, we dedicated every square inch of our small yard to growing flowers, vegetables, fruit, and fresh hops using earth-friendly practices. These practices we intend to carryover to our new land on a larger scale, and continue to serve the community we’ve so fondly served for the last 3 years in business. Daily Farm will be an expansion of Efflorescent Flowers business, and fold in Michael’s skill for growing produce vegetables and hops to create a multiple offering, bio-intensive organic farm.
Our immediate goals for Daily Farm is to be a USDA organic-certified vegetable and flower farm for our area. We want the farm to be a bounty of fresh local, organic grown goods for those looking for that option in your businesses or for your family. We want the farm to be a place that invites in our community to learn and safely walk-about our richly diverse farm, and to be a place that inspires the same excitement for plants and farming that we both share. We hope to soon host events on our farm, such as weddings and music festivals, so that our vegetable and flower farm can be a part of your modern-day enjoyment and build memories that last a lifetime.
